EMBARK Breaks Ground on New Parking Garage in the Emerging Park Union District

EMBARK officials recently celebrated construction beginning on its new downtown Oklahoma City parking garage at a ceremonial groundbreaking.

The six-level, 1,100 space garage will be located at 15 SW 4^th St., in a developing area of the urban core east of the new Scissortail Park. EMBARK currently manages 3,751 parking spaces across four facilities and two surface parking lots. Chris Kauffman, Central Oklahoma Transportation & Parking Authority (COTPA) board chair, said the new garage will be its most technologically advanced facility; helping to ensure it meets the demands of the new district.

“For more than 50 years, COTPA has seen our skyline grow, community evolve, and districts emerge and we’ve been there every step of the way by responding to the parking needs of each era,” said Kauffman.

The garage will serve the future Omni Convention Center Hotel and MAPS3 Convention Center, Boulevard Place (a mixed-use project in development), Chesapeake Arena, and more, as well as providing office space for transit operations. The parking garage could eventually be expanded by 300 spaces, providing the ability to increase parking as the area grows.

Construction is projected to take 12-months to complete, with the timeline closely linked to construction of the Omni Hotel and the MAPS3 Convention Center.

Manhattan Construction Company, a nationally-ranked firm with offices in Oklahoma City, was awarded the project earlier this year. The project cost is $23,581,030.89.
