Spokies is Oklahoma City’s only bike share program and the best way to cruise around downtown and through many of the city’s most exciting neighborhoods. Several pricing packages are available, making it easy to start your ride immediately.
What is an Electric Bike?
A Spokies Electric bike is a bicycle equipped with an electric motor to assist you when you’re pedaling. The motor turns on automatically when you start pedaling. The harder you pedal, the more power it gives you. The motor stops running when you stop pedaling, and tops out at 17 mph.
- If you run out of battery, you can still ride the bike but will no longer have the pedal assist from the motor.
- The pedal assist is always on and there is no way to turn it off (except by using all the battery).
- Pedal only bikes have gears but our E-bikes are single speed. With pedal assist, gears are not needed.
All Spokies Bikes (Electric & Pedal) Have
- Lights and reflectors; so you can see & be seen.
- Splash guards; for a dry, clean ride.
- Easily adjustable seats; to fit most adults (5' - 6'2").
- Puncture-resistant tires; for a safe and smooth ride
- 15-pound handy basket; to store your stuff.
- Enabled GPS; to explore our city.
Differences Between Pedal and Electric Bikes
- Grey and Blue bikes are pedal powered and have 3 speed internal hub
- Drop E-bikes (with orange basket panels) have Electric power assist, initiated when you pedal. Electric assist up to 17 mph.
- Currently only e-bikes are on the road. Pedal bikes will return soon.
