2024 MAPS 4 Transit Improvements

What improvements are happening?

• Approximately 140 new bus stops will be installed.
• Each bus stop will be ADA accessible and compliant; shelters must have at least three sides, including security lighting, a trash receptacle, and a bike rack.
• The average cost to make a stop ADA accessible and include a bus shelter is approximately $15,000. Costs can vary depending on location.

How long will this project take?

• Construction on the concrete pads will begin in northeast Oklahoma City in May 2024 Crews will install shelters and amenities later this year. Phase 1 is scheduled to be completed in early 2025.

My stop is under construction, what do I do?

1. Look around for a temporary stop. Temporary stops will be placed as close to the closed bus stop as possible.
2. Check our service alerts to ensure no detours are in effect.
3. Go to the next closest stop. Use the trip planner to find it.

MAPS 4 Quick Facts

• Total project budget: $97 million
• Budget items: Upgrades to existing bus stops ($11.2 million), advanced transit ($66.9 million), more buses and signal prioritization ($13.4 million), future planning and land acquisition ($5.5 million).

MAPS 4 will continue the transformation of our public transit system with dramatic new improvements funded by this $97 million package.

The budget includes $11.2 million to improve existing bus stops with lighting at every stop and approximately 500 new ADA-accessible shelters. More buses and signal prioritization to help frequency and reliability of services will receive a $13.4 million investment.

The package also includes $60 million for advanced transit options that could include bus rapid transit lines to south OKC/Capitol Hill, the NE 23^rd Street corridor, the Adventure District and the Innovation District, plus park-and-ride facilities and micro transit. Future planning and land acquisition investments of $5 million are also included.
